Position Summary:

An Electrician’s Helper (Apprentice) at Lamey Electric, Inc. will work under the direct supervision of a licensed electrician, learning the fundamentals of electrical installation, maintenance, and repair in various commercial and industrial settings. This entry-level position is designed to provide hands-on training and foundational knowledge necessary to progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist electricians with the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, wiring, conduit, and fixtures.
  • Learn to identify and use various electrical tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Perform material handling, including loading, unloading, and organizing tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including sweeping, tidying, and disposing of debris.
  • Prepare work sites by setting up ladders, scaffolding, and safety equipment.
  • Assist in pulling wire, bending conduit, and installing electrical boxes and panels.
  • Learn and adhere to all safety regulations, company policies, and relevant electrical codes (e.g., NEC).
  • Follow instructions from electricians and senior staff accurately and efficiently.
  • Perform basic tasks such as digging trenches, drilling holes, and cleaning components.
  • Continuously seek to learn and understand electrical principles and practices.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Strong desire to learn the electrical trade and commit to an apprenticeship program.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Basic understanding of hand and power tools (or a strong willingness to learn).
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, climbing, and working in various weather conditions.
  • Must be reliable, punctual, and have a strong work ethic.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in construction or a related trade.
  • Completion of any vocational training or pre-apprenticeship programs.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical concepts is a plus but not required.

Work Environment:

  • Work will primarily be performed at various commercial job sites, both indoors and outdoors.
  • May involve working at heights (ladders, lifts, scaffolding) and in confined spaces.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, and dust.
